#TheLongestDay #ENDALZ

Mindful Monday KNOWSY Readers, how is everyone doing? I pray that all is well wherever you may be, although I presume that for many, especially those who have/had family members and/or friends in Orlando, Florida are still trying to come to grips with that most tragic event, please know that my thoughts and prayers are with you.

Today's post, as you can see by the title, will be different from my regular focus of Money Matters Monday, even from other Mindful Monday posts, this one has to do with the fact that this month is Alzheimer's and Brain Awareness Month with special emphasis today Monday June 20, the day of Summer Solstice, also known as the Longest Day, the day chosen by the Alzheimer's Association to help spread the word by supporting and honoring a loved one who has or has lost their battle with this dreaded disease, here is a brief description and video which have been posted on alz.org.

ABOUT THE LONGEST DAY

The Longest Day is a team event to raise funds and awareness for the Alzheimer's Association®. Held annually on the summer solstice, the duration of this sunrise-to-sunset event symbolizes the challenging journey of those living with the disease and their caregivers. Teams are encouraged to create their own experience as they fundraise and participate in an activity they love to honor someone facing the disease.

As you can see alz.org would like you to start a team, many folks have already formed their teams and are continuing to raise awareness and funds by performing a specific activity which the Alzheimer's sufferer most enjoyed to do in his/her life.
Let me say, I have not formed my own team (Yet), however, I do want to do my own part in honoring my own Mother, Rosa Maria Vega de Orlando, whom I actually did create a special Board on Pinterest and have posted about it on significant dates: Mother's Day and either her birthdate or date of passing. My Mother was an incredible woman, who loved music, both listening to it and dancing to it, yes, in particular, TANGOS!! Oh, and if you are wondering, why that is of any importance, we hail from the land where the Tango was born: Argentina!

So, I thought how can I share with all of you fine folks one of my Mother's great loves, the only way I can, via my Blog Post(s), in actuality I believe I will only do one post for the blog, and the subsequent posts to my Facebook Page, yes, just in case you did not know that here is the link: www.facebook.com/maravickknows
My hope/intention would be to share one song (video) for each hour from sunrise to sunset! Well that is the hope! Stay tuned to see if I can schedule these as I wish! Now the most important question: Which Tangos to Post?!? Decisions, decisions! Well, since I only plan on writing one actual post for my blog, then the decision is clear as to which song was probably my Mother's favorite Tango: Mi Buenos Aires Querido (My Dear Buenos Aires), sung by the greatest Tango singer who ever lived: Carlos Gardel!

Alright my KNOWSY Readers, I hope you enjoyed this first selection, and more importantly understand how much this particular topic means to me and my family, as well as to so many others who not only live with this disease but also all those who are or have been Caregivers, myself included, who dedicate their lives in trying to aid their loved ones during this time, which is what can be called "The Long Goodbye", for those living this odyssey, that phrase will definitely hit home, sad but true.
